2.27.14 Day Eleven: Cardio

I got up at 4:45 am so I could get my Focus T25 in before I had to take my son to school at 6.  I feel great when I start my day off by working out!  I'm not going to lie, today I am sore.  I have been pushing myself to work harder each time I work out and it is paying off.  Twenty-five minutes a day doesn't seem like much but it is certainly getting the job done and I find myself actually looking forward to the work outs because I know I am going to get done quickly and I am going to feel great.  Now I have to get going so I can pack myself a healthy lunch and get ready for work.

Thanks for staying with me and have a fabulous day!

My Favorite Snack

This is an idea I got from the Nutrition Guide.  I just put my own spin on it so it was more to my taste.

Ingredients:

6 Crunchmaster Multi-Grain Crackers with Sea Salt (1.5 g fat & 50 calories)

3 slices of Chicken Breast lunch meat (2.5 g fat & 45 calories)

1 Weight Watchers Original Swiss Flavored swiss cheese wedge (1.5 g fat & 30 calories)

Mustard (you can use brown mustard if you prefer)

I put mustard in the center of each cracker to taste.  Then cut the slices of chicken breast in half and put half of a slice on each cracker.  Then I cut the swiss cheese wedge into 6 pieces and put one piece on each cracker.  This snack is filling and delicious!

Total fat 5.5 g
Total calories 125

2.26.14 Day Ten: Speed 1.0

This morning I didn't get up in time to work out.  Before Focus T25 if I had missed my morning workout I would have never made time to try to work out after work.  I am a single mom and my son wants to eat dinner every night... go figure lol!  That means I have to cook, do dishes, there's homework, laundry and any other normal household stuff that needs to be taken care of which never left time in the evenings to work out.  Tonight it was absolutely no problem for me to find 25 minutes to do Speed 1.0.  And I feel great!  If you think you can't or you keep making excuses, this could be the program for you.  If you are looking for some motivation just comment on my posts and I promise I will be there with you!

Thanks for staying with me.  Now go do something to make yourself feel fabulous!!!!

Chocolate Shakeology

Breakfast!  It tastes great and it's great for you! Great way to start the day :-)

2.24.14 & 2.25.14 Days Eight & Nine: Cardio and Total Body Circuit

2.24.14 Day Seven: Cardio

Well this made the third time I have done this workout.  Every time I do the workout I am getting better (obviously) but I also learn something new every time.  I highly recommend that if you are either doing these DVDs or thinking about it, that you pay close attention to every word that Shaun T says and listen to him!  If you have invested the time and money into getting this far you need to go one step further and FOCUS. What's the point if you are only going to go at these workouts at 1/2 speed.  Shaun T says it best... these workouts are only 25 minutes each and if you want results (which MUST be why you have made it this far) then you have to give these 25 minutes your full focus and you will see results!  Even if you think you have the DVDs down to memory you should still listen to him so you can keep your focus and your motivation.  The better results that you start seeing, the better you will feel and the more determined you will be to succeed.

2.25.14 Day Eight:  Total Body Circuit

I have to admit that I think this is the hardest of the Alpha series.  I have no upper body strength at all so the push ups are especially tough for me to get through.  Today I did push myself and did better than the first time I did this DVD but most of the time I had to stay with the low impact modifier.  All I know that if an overweight, 46 year old, single mom can do this, SO CAN YOU!!!

Thanks for sticking with me.  Now go something fabulous!!!

Tina's Easy Pico De Gallo Salsa

Ingredients:

1 large can of diced tomatoes
Juice from 1 small lime (more if you like more of a lime taste)
1 small yellow onion diced
Jalapeno (add the amount you like to suit your taste) diced
Cilantro (add the amount you like to suit your taste) chopped
Black Pepper

The first thing I do is open the tomatoes and pour them into a large bowl.  Then I  add the other ingredients, stir up the mixture until it is well blended, and pour it in a bowl and refrigerate.  This is so simple and tastes so much better than what you buy at the store.  You can add or subtract ingredients to taste.  I love black beans and corn in my salsa but not while I am on this program because I am sticking to the foods that are recommended!

I have no idea about the nutritional value of this recipe.  I just know that it is pretty healthy when eaten in moderation.  I eat this stuff on everything to add flavor!

2.23.14 One Week Into My Transformation

2.23.14 One week after I started T25.  I didn't have a shower before these pics so I wasn't wearing any makeup and my hair is a straight mess but I wanted to document my progress after one week so here it is!

Days Six and Seven: Cardio and Stretch

I had a very busy day yesterday so I did not get to write a post after my workout so I am including yesterdays post with today's post.

Day Six:  Cardio

I opted to do this workout on Saturday instead of doing two workouts on the 5th day.  This is just a repeat of Day One but today it was easier and I felt like I got a lot more out of the work out.  If anyone who is reading this has ever been thin and then gained weight and then lost weight again, you can likely to relate to some of the body changes I am going through.  When I was gaining weight it was like I could actually feel the fat cells multiplying in areas such as my glutes, hips and belly.  Now the opposite is happening.  I am starting to feel the fat cells literally disintegrating.  If you have never experienced this it probably sounds weird or impossible but trust me it is real!  And it feels great.  I have been sticking to the nutrition guide and have not been hungry at all after the first few days.  I am trying to stick to the protein meals and snacks because I have a lot of fat to get rid of!  I did eat one banana a day because I had bought bananas and grapes to use as snacks but then realized that fruit is full of sugar and not in the protein meals or snacks.  My son loves grapes but does not like bananas so he ate the grapes and I ate the bananas.  I weighed myself this morning and I was down 2.6 pounds since I weighed before I started on  Monday (day one) which I am thrilled about!

Day Seven:  Stretch

Wow.  This was harder than I thought it would be!  But it felt great!!  I can't believe how fast 25 minutes just flies by and Shaun T is a great motivator.  All you have to do is look at his incredible physique and listen to him and you will love this workout too!  I feel great and if you would like to see how I look after week one just check out the photos tab on my home page.

Thanks for being here now go make your day fabulous!!!

Day Five: Lower Focus

Well for those of you who have bought T25 you have figured out that on the 5th day you actually have two workouts to do!  I had a very busy day today so I chose to do one workout after work and I will do my second workout tomorrow.  I really think that working out every day will help me keep focused on my fitness and weight loss goal, at least in the beginning.  Also, on Sundays you have a stretch dvd to do. While this seems a bit deceiving I find it to be awesome, sort of like a bonus.  This program is only 25 minutes a day.'  I couldn't drive to the gym, park, get inside and find a free piece of equipment in 25 minutes.  I am super pumped and am loving this program.  Tomorrow, Staturday, I am going to try to do another video.  I want everyone to be able to feel my energy and enthusiasm and get as motivated as I am!!!

Todays workout was a challenge.  Again I did the modifier and I had a tough time getting through this workout but as always the 25 minutes flew by and Shaun T is amazing at keeping you focused and motivated.  The only thing I would recommend to the people at Beachbody would be to focus more on the nutrition guide and giving people more advise on their nutrition habits instead of trying to sell Shakeology etc at the end of the DVDs.  The videos are so powerful and it would be awesome if they had a video about the foods and recipes they recommend.  Visual aids are very powerful.  Maybe I will make a video once I have achieved my goals.

I have to get to bed now because I have to work in the morning  but again thanks for being here with me now go do something to make your day fabulous!

Day Four: Ab Intervals

I don't want to bore everyone to death with my boring daily journals.  These are mostly for myself to document my journey.  Also, in case anyone wants to see first hand what it is actually like on a day to day basis as you embark on this incredible journey so that you can see if I can do it, you can too!

Today's workout was difficult for me, I am not going to lie and say it was a breeze because it wasn't.  But I powered through it and gave it 100% of my effort.  I have also been giving mynutrition intake (I prefer that term over snacks and meals, for me nutrition intake has a more positive connotation) 100% effort.  I can honestly say that just by sticking to only consuming the things in the nutrition guide's "Keep It Real Foods" that I do not even have the desire to go off of this plan.  If you have read my other posts you know that I am just eating the foods listed but not necessarily following the exact recipe in the guide.  For myself, I wanted to cook what I like, how I would like it, so I know I will stick to eating these foods instead of forcing myself to eat something I don't like and then giving up and go back to my old eating habits.  So far, so good!

I do have a full-time job and I am a single mom of a 14 year old son who plays high school football.  Needless to say my son has to eat a lot and I am around people all day who are eating whatever they want.  Having to cook for him has not been that bad because he is actually becoming healthier also by eating the healthy foods that I am cooking.  The hardest part so far has been being in my office at my desk for 8 hours.  Before when I would get bored I would just snack on whatever was convenient.  Most of the time I was not even hungry, I was just eating out of boredom or because I could.  Since this is only day four I won't pretend I have everything figured out just yet because I do not!  However, today when I find myself wanting to snack (out of habit) I try to focus on my goal and why I am doing this which is to be healthier and feel better about myself.  I GOT THIS AND YOU CAN TOO!

Thanks for reading my post now go do something to make yourself feel fabulous!!

Day 3: Total Body Circuit

I must admit that today's workout was a little harder to get through than the last two days.  I did the modifier and barely made it through but I did it!  I got up at 4:445 this morning and had an inspiration for a blog post so I did that and then I worked out.  When I woke up today I wasn't famished like I was yesterday.  Today makes day 4 of following the nutrition plan ( I started the nutrition plan the day before I started the workouts) and so far it has been very easy to follow.  Actually it has been a lot easier to follow the nutrition plan than I thought it would be.  When I first read the nutrition guide that came with the plan I was a bit overwhelmed.  I decided just to pick out the foods that I liked on the "Keep It Real Foods" list and made up my own recipes.  I haven't weighed myself since the first day but I feel better already.  I am excited to see what tomorrow brings and I hope you are too!

Day Two: Speed 1.0

I am here to tell you if I can do this program, anyone can do it!  My before picture is so embarrassing but that is me and in order to become who I want to be I have to accept this person and focus on transforming into the person I know I can be!

This morning I had to have my son at his high school by 6:15 for plyometrics training (he is a football player and they workout 5 days a week in the off-season).  I set my alarm for 4:30 and much to my surprise I happily sprang out of my bed and was ready to take on the day.  The main word you have to remember is FOCUS!  I have a great post on another blog that I write called Hocus Focus that talks about the magical powers of your mind and the magic you can work if you just focus.  I actually catch myself saying the phrase "hocus focus" out loud when my mind starts to get me off track.  As corny as it sounds it really works and I am a firm believer in doing whatever you have to do to get where you want to go. No one is going to come into your life that can achieve your goals for you.  YOU have to make that happen! My goal with this blog is to help myself stay focused and hopefully motivate others to get up and do whatever it is that makes them happy!  If you are not living your dream you have work to do and if you are living your dream, you know that you have to workhard to maintain continued success!

This morning's workout was Speed 1.0.  I again did mostly the modifier version but I love it!  The time flies by and your adrenaline is just pumping when you are finished.  I started my workout at 5:10, finished my workout, packed my son a healthy breakfast and lunch, took him to school, came home, showered, left my house for work at 8 and now I am writing this post on my lunch.  I know it sounds like a lot to fit into my day but it is so rewarding and I have enjoyed every part of my day so far.  I do not have time for negativity.  Negativity breeds negativity so I take the approach that I am blessed with each and every moment I have on this earth and I have wasted enough time just existing... I want to LIVE!!!!!  One of my favorite sayings is that it is never too late to have a happy life!  I want a happy life so I am going for it and you can too!!!  If you have any stories you would like to share, I would encourage you to post a comment below.

Thanks for checking out my blog now go make your day fabulous!!!

Day One: Cardio

I just finished my first workout and I feel great!  I had to do the modifier because I am very out of shape and over weight but I still got an awesome workout and the time flew by.  Now I am going to fix my breakfast (I am going with high protein meals today because I have a lot of fat to burn).  It is really important for me to pack healthy foods in a healthy proportion because I work in an office setting with a lot of people who are normal size and they sometimes bring donuts in to the office etc. and I want to be prepared!  Yesterday, after reading the promotional materials included with the workout, I went shopping and purchased the foods on the "Keep It Real Foods" list in the T25 Focus Get It Done Nutrition guide.  I then prepared some stuff so I would be able to easily pack my snacks and lunch for the day and not have any excuses as to not enough time etc.  If you have also started this journey, are thinking about starting it, or have already completed, I would love for you to share your experience(s) and/or feelings here!

Thanks for being here now go make your day fabulous!!!!

Anticipation and Preparation

My name is Tina and I am a 46 year old single female who lives in Columbus, Ohio.  I have struggled with my weight alot throughout my lifetime.  Mostly I have struggled in the past 10 years.   I have one child, a 14 year old son, and I gained about 40 pounds when I was pregnant with him at the age of 32.  Being a single mother has been very difficult.  I found that even though I lost all of my baby weight within one year after giving birth, I had a difficult time keeping the weight off.  In fact, I became an emotional eater.  I turned to food for comfort.  Before I knew it I weighed way more than I wanted to and my self image and self esteem took a nose dive.

Last week I saw the infomercial for T25.  I had tried Insanity in the past and loved it but couldn't always find the time to fit the workouts into my crazy schedule.  This 25 minute workout with Shaun T. looks like a dream come true.  I am so ready to get my life back that I ordered it right then and there!  I got the package in the mail on Saturday.  I read all of the literature that came with the package and now I am pumped to get started and nail the workouts!!

Today is Sunday, February 16th, 2014.  I went grocery shopping this morning and bought all of the items in the "Keep It Real Foods" that I liked so I could prepare meals and snacks for the week.  I don't really care for many of the recipes in the T25 Get It Done Nutrition guide, but I plan on just changing some things around a bit so that I am still eating the nutrituous foods that are suggested but with only the ingredients that Ilike so I will be more likely to stick to the nutrition plan.  I am so pumped to get started with the workouts in the morning that I am not sure if I will be able to sleep or not.

I have posted a before pic even though it is quite risky since that is putting a lot of pressure on myself to succeed!  I am taking a deep breath and can't wait to dive right in head first in the morning!!!!

If I can do it, anyone can do it!  Won't you join me?
